Telling The Truth To Ourselves And To Others

If integrity has to do with reliably living up to our commitments, honesty is about telling the truth to ourselves and to others. A salesman who received consistently low ratings on trustworthiness said, "I'm a salesman. I'm a promoter and a story teller. My job is to get people excited about my products and to create a positive spin...I sell hope and promise. If I was a stickler with the facts I'd never sell anything." Don't let exaggeration interfere with your success. Be aware of what you're saying, and hold yourself accountable. If you are focusing on serving your clients instead of just maximizing earnings, you will have a more rewarding and successful career.
